Since its establishment in 1996 as a research center in the field of planning at Yonsei University's Department of Architecture and Engineering, the Lab of Architecture & Urban Space Design(LAUD) strives to find alternatives for urban and architectural spaces to lead harmonious lives as social beings beyond safe and comfortable spaces through analysis of architecture and urban space related to human consciousness and behavior within the framework of the urban environment, and research on desirable architectural plans to restore a harmonious relationship between space and human beings.

LAUD conducts various academic research and industry-academia collaborative projects to understand space centered on the user through various research methods to understand the characteristics of space and apply the results to space design. 

연세대학교 건축공학과 건축도시공간계획연구실 

1996년 연세대학교 건축공학과의 계획분야 연구실로 개설된 이후 건축도시공간계획연구실은 도시환경이라는 틀 속에서 인간의 의식과 행동에 관련된 건축과 도시공간의 분석, 공간과 인간의 조화 있는 관계성 회복을 위한 바람직한 건축 계획에 대한 연구를 통해 안전하고 쾌적한 공간을 넘어 사회적 존재로서의 인간의 조화로운 삶을 영위하기 위한 도시와 건축 공간에 대한 대안들을 찾고자 노력하고 있습니다.

도시공간 속에서 사람들은 어떻게 생활하고 느끼며 행동하는가를 파악하는 것은, 사람에게 적합한 공간환경은 어떤 것인가를 알아낼 수 있는 유효한 접근방법입니다. 

건축도시공간계획연구실은 공간의 특성을 이해하기 위한 다양한 연구방법을 통해 사용자 중심으로 공간을 이해하고 그 결과를 공간 설계에 적용하기 위한 다양한 학술 연구와 산학협력 프로젝트를 수행하고 있습니다.
